Northern Lights
Northern Lights, a 95% Indica dominant hybrid is originally from Holland. The strain has intercontinental origins stemming back to the 80s, when Thai Haze was crossed with Afghani indica to produce a strain that would go on to win Holland’s Cannabis Cup 3 times. The THC levels of Northern lights range between 16% to 19% with some touting it as a ‘two hit wonder and then you’re done!’ The positive effects of Northern Lights leave users feeling euphoric, happy, and relaxed. Negative effects are primarily limited to cotton mouth and red eyes, however, the potency may lead some novice smokers to experience some dizziness. The medicinal uses include anxiety, loss of appetite, sleeplessness, stress, pain, and anorexia. It’s most popular on the West Coast and in Colorado, but its popularity means that it can be found anywhere.
The smoke from Northern Lights tastes like pine, spice, sweet, earthy, and citrusy while the aroma is a very light pungently piney, spicy, and sweet. This strain flowers for to 8 week and yields about 125 grams per plant if grown outdoors in a warm, sunny climate. If grown in a green house, it produces about 100 grams per plant. Overall, it tends to be a little easier to grow as well. The buds are dense, sticky, and delicate. Smoking Northern Lights is mainly recommended for night-time.
