Death Star
Death Star is a hybrid strain with over 70% indica-dominant genetics, originally bred in Ohio around 2001-2002 by a group known as ‘Team Death Star.’ It is a cross between the renowned Sour Diesel and Sensi Star, although a related (and lesser known) phenome of this strain, the Death Star OG is created with the addition of OG Kush genetics.
Despite its indica dominant genetics, Death Star has well-balanced effects. Known for having a high potency, its THC concentration commonly spans a range of 20%-25%, with less than half a percent of CBD and 0.6% CBN. In addition to having a creeping onset, it numbs the mind and has a narcotic effect on the body, inducing complete tranquility and muscle relaxation.
Death Star has thick, fat and sticky buds that are highly dense and covered in trichomes. It can feature purple highlights, has dark orange hairs, and its bright greens are dulled due to its frosty appearance, which is not at all a bad thing. For veteran smokers with a built up tolerance for cannabis, Death Star has the ability to be an all-day, go-to strain, while the experience for novice users can result in severe couch lock and a quick knock-out effect.
With a pungent, earthy aroma, the scent of Death Star is said to be very skunky and recognizable. Once the nugs are broken apart, the unmistakable smell is said to permeate the entire room, dominating the air with diesel accents and a citrus kick, with a varying degree of sweetness.
Death Star, like all strains, has its unique medicinal applications, helping many patients suffering from depression, high levels of stress, anxiety, and even insomnia feel better and get more rest. Nausea and pain are two more ailments that patients have reported relief with when medicating with Death Star.
Death Star can be grown both indoors and outdoors, having a flowering period generally lasting 65 days. It requires intermediate cultivation skills and is known to grow in short bushes (as influenced by its indica father), with buds that are generally smaller in size that typically yield a low to moderate harvest.
