Flo

Flo is a 60% sativa dominant hybrid, originally bred by Dutch Passion by crossing Purple Thai and Afghani strains. It was made popular by a prominent cultivator named DJ Short, who used Flo’s genetics to win 1st place at the 9th Cannabis Cup in 1996. There are 2 primary phenotypes of this strain: the “green” phenotype, which is entirely light green in color, and the “blue” phenotype, which expresses itself with darker shades of blue and purple.
Flo has a distinct smell that could be picked out by experienced users. A blend of sweet hash, menthol, herbal, and earthy tones co-mingle harmoniously into a beautiful aroma. Once combusted, the flower scents the room with an incense-like flavor that is smooth and creamy.
Flo’s balanced effects mean that it exhibits the qualities of both indica and sativa genetics simultaneously, as opposed to taking turns as most strains do. It is a relaxing, uplifting, and functional high that preserves complete mental clarity while simultaneously offering a full body buzz. With medium potency, it is never overwhelming and can be appropriate for novice cannabis users. Medically speaking, Flo can help alleviate migraines, sooth arthritis pain or reduce anxiety and stress. It can also boost energy, improve the mood, and spark some creativity.
Whether it is grown with indoor lighting or under the sun, Flo can be harvested multiple times. A second batch of buds can be harvested about 2 weeks after the initial pruning. Flo’s flowering period is 55-65 days, with the Afghani genetics having had the impact of reducing the total flowering time significantly. The large, pear-shaped buds contain about 14% THC, minimal CBD and are most often used in the morning or during daytime.
