Jack Herer

This well-rounded, slightly sativa-dominant hybrid was created by Sensi Seeds of Amsterdam, where it has come to be regarded as the “champagne of strains.” It was named in honor of Jack Herer, an American cannabis activist and author who in 1985 published a book called “The Emperor Wears No Clothes,” to surface hidden and politically charged truths about the hemp industry. Jack Herer has come to be known as the cream of Sensi’s crop, having won 9 cannabis cups and counting.
Jack Herer combines the cerebral high of a tropical sativa with the overabundant production of resin from its indica genetics. Although the true lineage has been kept secret by the breeder, it is generally considered to be a 3 way cross between Skunk #1, Northern Lights #5, and Haze. The result is a 55% sativa, 45% indica hybrid that has come to be distributed by Dutch pharmacies to patients with a valid medical prescription. And while the aforementioned genetic mix seems to be the most common, due to the complex lineage, one of four main phenotypes may be produced from any given seed. Three of these are sativa leaning in their genetics, while the 4th is distinctly indica-dominant.
The effects of Jack Herer are perfectly balanced between the mind and the body, helping users relax completely, while boosting attention, desire to converse, and most noticeably improving mood. These effects have a quick onset, beginning with a powerful rush of energy that stimulates the mind – an effect that is far more invigorating than it is disorienting. When Jack Herer hits, it hits hard, as the average potency is anywhere from 17% - 24% THC. It is therefore recommended for daytime use as smoking it at night may lead to overstimulation and an inability to sleep. Jack Herer can be beneficial for treating chronic aches and pains, ADD/ADHD, mood disorders, stress, anxiety or depression. Overall, it is a very popular strain among recreational as well as medicinal users.
Jack Herer’s flavor is very herbal and down to earth, engaging the user with notes of pine and a certain spiciness that is reminiscent of potpourri. The leaves, stems and stalks are covered with trichomes, so much so that the plant seems to be snow-frosted and even sparkle in the light. Jack Herer typically flowers in 50 - 70 days, can reach a height of up to 8 feet tall, and produces a medium-to-heavy yield. Growing it outside requires planting in a Mediterranean type of climate, where temperatures remain between 72 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit.
