LSD

Cup Winner

LSD is a 70% indica dominant hybrid strain created by Barney’s Farm from a cross between Mazar I Sharif and Skunk #1. It won 1st place in the indica category in the 2008 High Times Cannabis Cup, which has given LSD a very respectable reputation. Its THC potency ranges from 16% to as high as 24% in laboratory tests, where it was also measured to contain from 0.05% up to 1.3% CBD. When dried, LSD has an earthy, chestnut-like aroma, with sweet and musky notes.

Due to its strong psychedelic and cerebral effects, the strain was named LSD as a homage to its trippy predecessor. A strain for daytime, it produces a powerful stone with a sense of euphoria and a boost of creativity. It begins with an overflowing happiness, but as the high sets in, one’s thoughts begin to race as cerebral stimulation peaks. Despite the scattered nature of the experience, some users still report being able to come up with new ideas while smoking the LSD strain.

For an indica, LSD is unusual in the degree of mental stimulation it produces. However, the mental high begins to wear off relatively quickly, giving way to a full-body relaxation which can help deal with chronic aches and pains. Other medical uses include stress reduction, treatment of insomnia, and migraine relief.

The negative effects of LSD may include cotton mouth, dry eyes, dizziness, headaches, and minor paranoia.

Growers will discover that LSD is quite resilient; it has a high resistance to many diseases and can be grown indoors or outside. Reaching up to 39 inches, it flowers in 9-10 weeks and produces an above-average yield (600 grams for a square meter of the plant can be expected). In the Southern hemisphere, LSD finishes in April while in the Northern it harvests in October.
