Hindu Kush
Hindu Kush is one of the original landrace strains named after the 500 mile mountain range that stretches between Afghanistan and Pakistan, to where it is indigenous. It is a pure indica measured to contain between 17%-20% THC with a long history and a considerable role in the world-wide popularization of cannabis. Seeds of Hindu Kush were imported to the US (and other regions of the world) in the 50s and 60s, carried mainly by Westerners who had traveled between Europe and South Asia on what came to be called "The Hippie Trail."
Epitomizing indica genetics in its appearance and having evolved to survive in a harsh and variable climate, Hindu Kush tends to be short and stocky, with wide lateral branches and large and very dense buds. Bright green in color, they are covered by a very generous coat of large trichome crystals with slight variety in pigment colorization from phenotype to phenotype. Generally, Hindu Kush flowers are so resinous, that the strain has been cherished by hash makers for many generations.
Hindu Kush brings on a slowly-mounting high that starts with deep, physical relaxation which progresses to engulf the mind into a tranquil yet foggy state. The limbs will begin to feel heavy after a few minutes and the user will no longer want to be especially active due to its heavily sedative, almost narcotic properties. A couch-locking sensation is commonly reported after using Hindu Kush, and while thoughts or intentions of being productive may enter the mind, they'll likely pass just as easily with the user happily remaining motionless. Such immobilization can free up the mind for lazy contemplation and meandering creative thinking. Some psychedelic effects like visual distortions and strange tactile sensations may also occur, but they do not include any feelings of anxiety or paranoia. Because of its heavy body stone, Hindu Kush is not recommended for daytime use. Instead, it works well as a numbing agent for chronic pain, an anti-nausea treatment, and as a way to relieve stress and anxiety. With medium to large doses, it is a powerful tool for combating sleeplessness as well.
Hindu Kush carries a complex aroma with lots of simultaneous notes being detectible by the user. It is sweetly citrus, with musky and earthy undertones. Scents of earth, pine and spice can also be detected, some of which intensify in the taste when the flower is combusted and inhaled. The smoke can be harsh and cough-inducing, making some users prefer using this strain with a vaporizer.
