As of 2017, medical use of cannabis has been legalized in Canada, provided it is consumed under the conditions outlined in the Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulations (ACMPR) by persons with a valid medical license, which is issued by the department of the government responsible for national public health, called Health Canada.
